Cursor usage-based pricing explained
How Cursor's Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra usage pools work, why Claude and GPT cost extra, and how to keep the bill predictable.
A weekly pool, sized in multiples
Cursor's paid plans share an AI usage pool with Grok that refreshes weekly. Plus ($8/month) is the base; Premium ($30) is 4x Plus, Super ($100) 15x and Ultra ($200) 50x. Cursor does not publish the pool size in dollars or requests.
The part that surprises people
Plus covers Cursor's own models only. Third-party models such as Claude or GPT are available on Premium and above at API list price, billed separately from the plan. If you mostly use those models, your real bill is the plan plus that usage.
Keeping it predictable
Use the included models for routine edits, save third-party models for hard problems. If you hit the weekly pool often, compare the next tier up against what you pay in API-price usage.
