Know what you are paying for

Since Agent Mode became default (July 2025), each Lovable message costs credits based on complexity. Hover the three dots on a message to see exactly what it cost. Since June 2026, the same balance also pays for Cloud hosting and in-app AI, so a busy live app can drain credits too.

Tips that actually save credits

1. Plan first. Plan Mode is a flat 1 credit per message. Agree on the approach before letting the agent edit code.

2. Batch small edits. "Make the button gray, fix the footer padding and rename the nav link" in one message is usually cheaper than three.

3. Be specific. Name the file, component or page. Vague prompts make the agent explore more of your codebase.

4. Stop fix loops early. If two attempts fail, revert and rephrase instead of saying "still broken" ten times.

5. Do trivial edits yourself in code mode or GitHub.

6. Use your 5 daily free build credits; they expire each day.

7. Set credit limits and alerts (added October 2026) so one member or project can't burn the workspace balance.

8. Watch Cloud and AI usage on the Plans & credit usage page if your app is live.

9. Use monthly credits before they expire: they lapse 2 months after issue; top-ups last 12 months.
